Saumaize Pouilly-Fuissé – French white wine
Based in the tiny and pretty village of Vergisson (West of the town of Macon) and just under the famous “Roche de Solutré”, Christine and Roger Saumaize runs one of the star Domaine of the region. In Europe, they call this young couple “the purists” – They produce wines with lovely finesse, minerality and complexity. All the work in the vineyard is Biodynamic, Roger has a huge respect for his “Terroir”. Horses are back in the best limestone vineyards to plough like in the past – fantastic thing to see again!
It is a very small Domaine with only 8 hectares planted in Chardonnay and 0,2 in Pinot Noir, Saumaize-Michelin produces less than 50,000 bottles per year.
For the last 5 years, the quality and the homogeneity of the production of this Domaine is truly exemplary.
Saumaize-Michelin Pouilly Fuisse
Unoaked chardonnay, a notably ripe nose of peach and white pear complements the admirably concentrated and sappy flavours that culminate in a racy, punchy and nicely mineral-infused finish.
